Bringing Hope through Jesus' Love & Power to Tacoma and Beyond.
Destiny City Church moved to downtown Tacoma in 2006, though we have been in existence for close to 90 years.
We began in 1918 as a Sunday School mission in a humble community called Fredrickson located between South Hill
Puyallup and Spanaway. In 1943 the Sunday School mission became a church.
Over the years the church has transformed and grown in many ways, and several ministries have birthed out of the church. We have received a heart for the people and city of Tacoma with a vision as to how key the city is to the surrounding region. So in the summer of 2006 we left the suburbs, sold our 10 acre campus, and moved as a church family into the city. We currently meet in the Central Lutheran Church building in the Stadium District of Tacoma.
We are committed to what we call Jesus-ministry. This simply means we are committed to demonstrate the heart, life, and ministry of Jesus Christ to people in our city and beyond as He modeled it for us in the gospels.
Destiny City Church is a diverse church committed to bringing Jesus-ministry to the people of Tacoma and beyond. We believe that Jesus came to this earth with a life and message of hope and love which He ministered to people through His power and truth. He wonderfully and radically changed people's lives. The love and power of Jesus life and ministry was so profound and attractive that people traveled far distances, even into isolated places, simply to encounter Jesus. We are convinced that the Church of Jesus Christ is left with the very same mission Jesus initiated and modeled in the gospels. Our passion is to have the same impact on people Jesus did while He was on earth.
Therefore, we are committed to what we call Jesus-ministry. This simply means we are committed to demonstrate the heart, life, and ministry of Jesus Christ to people in our city and beyond as He modeled it for us in the gospels.
