We are encouraging all DCC women to read the book, "The Soul at Rest." Author, Tricia Rhodes, will be our speaker at our upcoming retreat. This study book will prepare our hearts for what the Lord wants to accomplish at our retreat this year! Many of the women are starting small in-home "book clubs" as they walk through this book. Mommy & Me is relationally centered on mothers of infants and pre-school children. It is an opportunity for mothers to interact with each other while being involved with their babies and pre-schoolers in kinder-gym activities. The times will include developmental activities for the children of music, muscles, mind and a light snack. The mothers will be interactive with their children during these times. "Women of Purpose", a project of World Concern, links North American women with poor, marginalized women in four countries overseas who seek healing, restoration, opportunity and freedom. "Women of Purpose" provides micro-loans and job training to groups of women and protect vulnerable children through rescue and shelter programs.
Desperately poor women and children in Bangladesh, Haiti, Thailand and Bolivia are vulnerable not only to malnutrition and illness, but to trafficking, prostitution and even slavery. Women and girls in these countries have little economic power or protection, and they are easy prey for promises of "opportunities" in faraway cities when food and work are scarce at home.
The women of Destiny City Church have chosen to support this program through various fund raising projects.
